NEO Sierra Club Sponsors Film

The 39th Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) begins on March 18 and runs until March 29 at Tower City Cinemas downtown. Again, NEO Sierra Club will participate as a Community Partner. In particular, we are helping to promote the film, Divide in Concord, a documentary about an octogenarian activist in Concord, Massachusetts who works to ban plastic water bottles in her community. Coal-Burning Power Plant Bailouts for FirstEnergy Ohio

The Ohio General Assembly recently passed a new law that guts our renewable energy and energy efficiency standards, forcing Ohioans to rely more on dirty fossil fuels and pay more for electricity. Along with business and consumer groups and thousands of individuals, Sierra Club is urging PUCO to deny FirstEnergy’s request to increase customers’ bills to pay for coal plants that can’t compete in a free market.
