➡ Every Monday: Meat-Free Monday. Meat production uses tremendous amounts of water and is one of the greatest sources of methane emissions.  Methane is 80%-100% more potent as a greenhouse gas than carbon in a 20 year time period. ➡ Thursday, November 5, 7 PM: Lessons from the World’s Greenest Office Tower. Cleveland Museum of Natural History, One Wade Circle, Cleveland 44106. The PNC Financial Services Group recently opened the Tower at PNC Plaza, its LEED-Platinum corporate headquarters that was designed to be the greenest office tower in the world. The building’s innovative engineers are from BuroHappold, the same firm that is leading the engineering design of the new facilities at the the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. PNC and the Museum invite you to this exciting event to learn how smart design is shaping the bank and the museum of the future. Free and open to the public.

Saturday, December 5, 2015, 6pm – 8:30 PM: the Second Annual Northeast Ohio Sierra Club Membership Dinner at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, 2600 South Park Blvd, Cleveland 44120. Doors will open at 5:45pm. This year we are asking for a donation of $5 per person to help defray the cost of the dinner. We will have a Silent Auction again this year. It is fun to see old and new friends in the beautiful setting of the Nature Center. RSVP to Anne by November 30th. See you there!

Sunday, December 6, 11 AM-2 PM: Mentor Headlands Beach Cleanup. Sierra Club volunteers will meet up to clean the dunes on a monthly basis. Come hike the trails in the dunes and help us keep this important coastal ecosystem free of trash and debris. Gloves, trash bags, buckets, pickers, snacks and water cooler provided – bring shoes suitable for walking in sand, sunscreen, water bottles, and bug spray.  Contact: Jessica.ferrato@sierraclub.org or click here to sign up.

Meetings

Executive Committee meetings begin immediately after the 7 PM Conservation meeting. Meetings will be held at Lakewood Library Main Branch on 15425 Detroit Rd on the first Wednesday of each month.

Coal & Energy Committee meets at 4105 Stilmore Rd, South Euclid, Ohio 44121. Please contact Randy Cunningham at 216-631-3337 for the time and date of the next meeting.

Green Transportation Committee meets the first Mon. of each month at 1 PM in the Linking Employment Abilities and Potential offices at 2545 Lorain Ave. Please contact Akshai Singh for more information.  State Transportation calls are on the fourth Tues. of each month at 6 PM. Contact Akshai to get on a call, or to connect with Ohio cycling advocacy.

Rainforest Committee typically meets every month on the third Sunday of the month. Call Michael Melampy at 440-826-2263 for time and place.
